Most days. . . .

Most days I love my job. I have been teaching for 100+ days (you know we are all over what day of school it is in Kindergarten). I lucked out this year. Great kids, and great parents who truly care about their kids and what they are learning (most of the time). My school is in an affluent area of town, and I have a couple parents who have nothing better to do than hang out in my classroom.

Now I love parent help, but there is only so much I can have them do. And apparently they really do have too much time on their hands.

On Friday (the 13th), 2 hours before our Valentines party I had a parent call my cell phone. What ensued was a very polite 15 minute rant about what I was doing wrong in my classroom. My expectations are too high, and their little darlings should be allowed to re-enact Star Wars on my carpet everyday. Not going to happen!

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I thought I'd share my email address in case you have any questions as you contemplate an NYC move. (theycallmeteacher@gmail.com) I will tell you that I will Never regret moving to the city. I love it. I do miss the enjoyment of teaching (I lost it pretty much the first day of school this fall). I miss things making sense in schools. I will get a lot from this experience, but right now, I'm just trying to survive and get through it. I would never tell anyone Not to come to NYC... but I wouldn't tell them it's guaranteed to be the best teaching job in the world... because it's not, and one like mine is not even close. When I find a job outside the city I'll probably never complain about a thing again. I look back on the school I was at prior to my move, and I can't believe I didn't feel as lucky then as I now realize I was.

Anyway, I look forward to reading your blog :)
